How does an Airbrush application tan the skin?

The active ingredient in most tanning solutions is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is a chemical that has been around since the 1920′s and was recognized by the food and drug administration as being safe when used in a cosmetic form in the 1970′s. DHA is a non-toxic simple sugar derivative that reacts with the proteins in the top layer of the skin to produce a tan.

How long does an Airbrush Tan last?
The tan usually lasts about 5 to 7 days. Booster lotions with DHA can extend the life of your tan.

Do I still need to wear sunscreen after getting an Airbrush Tan?

Yes, you should always protect your skin from the sun!

DO’S AND DON’TS

Do shower before you tan.
Do exfoliate the entire body before tanning
Do shave the night before tanning.
Do wear loose fitting clothing to your tanning session. The application dries in 5 to 10 minutes, but for maximum benefit it’s best to wait approximately 2 to 4 hours before wearing tight fitting clothing.
Do not wear stocking following an application.
Allow tanning application to dry for 6-8 hours before bathing.
